Thanks for checking out our website! If you've been here before, you will notice some changes happening as of fall of 2023! For the last six years, our family flower farm, along with our wood flower business, has prospered so much, I needed to make some tough decisions! I either needed to hire help or downsize to fit our family's needs. I decided that being with my family was more important than chasing the dollar...so we have recently made some adjustments to what we offer and when I am open!
For the year 2024, we will only offer spring blooms. We will still start with tulips and peonies with a few other pretties that do best during the spring months! I will no longer be offering a flower bar, but will still be taking orders for pick-up and delivery!
Along with adjustments to our flower farm, I also decided that taking a break from wood flower weddings was also a good idea! I have seriously just worn myself out! In 2022, I was blessed to do 31 weddings and by June of 2023, I had already done 12! I love doing them and working with my wonderful brides, but for sanity purposes, I just need to take a break! The world tells us to push push push...and I have, trust me...but after lots of prayer and reflection, I really don't think that's what God is calling me to! I started this business so I could continue to stay home with our kids and still help bring in an income...well, I am not home near as much as I'd like and actually being with my kids and Jeff has been a joke! All of you who run a small business know...there's never a day off and being with family is being with them while you all work! I'm ready for a change and the only way to do that is actually to make a change!
I want to leave my story here so you know how this beautiful flower farm got started...it's a reflection of what only God can do! I'm the girl with dirt under my nails and if I am being completely honest, between my toes too! Welcome to our flower farm! My family and I can't wait to meet you and share our little patch of Heaven! I am the mother of the most lovely four girls and wife of Jeffery, my right hand man! Like you, I have a story and am on a crazy ride this side of Heaven! Although it's not always easy sailing, I'm doing my best to take care of what God has given us and choosing to glorify Him!
God has allowed me to wear many hats, which I am truly thankful! Some have been by choice, while others have been because God is using it for my good and His glory. Twenty-three years ago, my love for caring and helping others, lead me to a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Then, marriage led to a family and a true desire to stay home to raise our kiddos! Thankfully, Jeff and I were on the same page about me staying home, so I did lots of odd jobs to help make ends meet. It's no surprise that God used this time for me to learn LOTS, which is now allowing me to do this flower farming thing along with teaching classes like knitting and grain milling.
This opportunity took us by surprise in 2014 when a couple requested to purchase our home in Napoleon...when it wasn't for sale! After lots of prayer, it was decided to build on the Beggs homeplace. As soon as we settled, I felt God laid on my heart that one day, this land will allow Jeff and I to work together and bring an income for your family. Sure enough, four years later, He gave us the desires of our hearts and allowed a cut flower farm to BLOSSOM.
Knowing this is a gift, it is our desire to be good stewards of this land and take care of what God has given us. We make every effort to create the most enjoyable experience for all involved. When you come to The Rustic Petal, you will be greeted with warm smiles and loving attitudes.
We'd rather call you friends than customers!
You will not find harsh chemicals or dyes that hurt us and our precious pollinators. We believe you will experience something vastly different and special here. We pray it’s a safe, peaceful place where memories can be made and laughter can be shared with family and friends.
Farming flows through our veins. Dirt and hard work don't scare us!
Having grown up as children and grandchildren of crop and livestock farmers, we know and appreciate the hard-work and reward that comes with farming. We truly LOVE hard-labor, getting dirty and watching what only God can do through our obedience to Him in “subduing the earth.”
Come enjoy the experience with us, from seed to bouquet!
